 I never thought I would ever say this.  It's as if I just left 8th period PE and had an hour before practice starts, so I'm going to walk over to my friend's house to play some Madden '04 and check the Myspace profile.

The grandaddy of social networks, Myspace was where it was. Flirting, venting, personalizing. There was once a time when myspace backgrounds were more prevalent online than cat videos. Tough to imagine little ones, but this is true.

Then it went away. Drowning in a flood of spam and D-list celebrities that was finally overtaken by the social giant that is Facebook. Gone for what we thought would be forever, along with Xanga and Break.com, AOL Chat and HomeStar Runner.

I never thought I would be saying it, but I am: Myspace is back.

Not like 2010 when it was supposed to be 'making a comeback'. This is a whole new ball game folks. All your favorite things about the other places: Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, Instagram. Combined with a new and very freindly interface and some 'why didn't we think of this before?' moments.  Take a Robo tour shall we?

1) The NewsFeed

Nothing out of the ordinary here, except what I can't show you (bc I'm too lazy to create a .gif). The feed scrolls HORIZONTALLY...game changer! The typical desktop is a widescreen format, it just makes sense and is actually easier to read! Right off the bat you can tell Justin Timberlake (part owner of the New Myspace) has delivered on his promise to make it more artist-friendly.

 

2) The Profile

The cover photo is HUGE! It takes up the whole screen, the about me section is straight and to the point AND, what type of Myspace would this be if we didn't have out Top 8 and our Profile Song (mine's Imagine Dragons 'Radioactive'..it totally gets me').

 

3) The Mixes

This is the new way to upload photos PLUS create a playlist to define those photos, or keep them seperate. Your call.

 

4) The Playlist

This is cool: You can create that mix and play it while you browse the new site or any other site for that matter! Spoti-what?

 

5) The Search

This may be the coolest thing ever. Looking for a song or a person or a thing? Just start typing, your search takes up the whole screen with every thing it can find! To escape, just hit escape. It just makes sense!

 

So there you have it. It's already been labeled one of the top sites to watch in 2013. There's so much more I have to learn from it and so much more left to discover, but I like what I'm seeing!

And there's no poke button. Thank you Justin Timberlake.

Right now it's only on an 'invite only' basis BUT they allow those on the site to invite a few every now and then. I think I still have a few left to give, if you'd like in on the world that is the New Myspace, just comment below or get ahold of me some way!
