Plans For New Developments After Re-Zoning In Roundtree Neighborhood

A make-over to property in the Roundtree Neighborhood in Springfield is likely after City Council approved re-zoning to allow more businesses and apartments.

City Council members approved the re-zoning of 1.18 of land at Pickwick and Cherry to a Planned Development District. Before the changes passed, it was zoned as High Density Multi-Family Residential, with a Limited Business District.

Plans by Cherry and Pickwick LLC show a rough sketch of more businesses and apartments, with three-story buildings.

The Principal Planner for the City of Springfield says developers hope to build a three-story building to the west of two existing buildings on the property. They’ll start on remodeling the existing buildings first.

The plan is for businesses to be on the ground level with apartments above.

The designs are not finalized yet. Cherry and Pickwick LLC hasn’t given a timeline on construction.
