Ground Breaking For Lakeland Behavioral Health System Renovation

On Monday, a $2.6 million renovation project will begin in Springfield.

Lakeland Behavioral Health System will break ground on the three-phase project.

Phase I will involve completing the rework of the admissions department, Phase II will include a new secure ambulance bay, and Phase III will consist of a complete remodel of the front entrance and lobby to make it more comfortable and safer for patients.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin t 11 a.m. at 440 South Market Street.

Information provided by Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce:

Phase I encompasses a complete rework of the admissions department to be more conducive to patient and family needs during the intake process. This area will include updated amenities and cutting-edge finishes for enhanced safety.

Phase II will include construction of a new secure ambulance bay. This addition will improve transportation conditions for emergency medical technicians, protect the confidentiality of patients, decrease the potential for elopement, and improve the transition of our patients during inclement weather.

Phase III will consist of a complete remodel of the front entrance and lobby to make it more comfortable and safer for patients, residents, families, employees, and visitors.

“I appreciate the significant investment Acadia Healthcare is making in our facility that was originally built in 1905,” said Jerry Hudson, Plant Operations Director. “These changes will not only provide a better patient/caregiver experience at Lakeland, but it will also significantly improve security,” said Lakeland CEO Nate Duncan.

Acadia Healthcare, which is headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, acquired Lakeland in 2011. Acadia has invested over $10 million in facility upgrades since the acquisition.
