Rain may be moving into the Ozarks as early as Saturday afternoon, but it will be heaviest Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service says amounts will range from one to two inches, with the heaviest rain falling in south central Missouri around West Plains and Thayer.
No severe weather is expected in southwest Missouri this weekend, but the potential exists for a severe weather outbreak across the Deep South this weekend.
As the storm system moves out of our area, cold air from Canada will spread across the area, with morning lows Sunday in the mid to upper 30’s and daytime highs struggling to reach 50 degrees.
Forecasters say it’s not out of the realm of possibility for some wet snow flakes to mix in with the rain for portions of the Ozarks Sunday morning, but the snow is not expected to stick.
