A Houston man who reported his own stepdaughter missing has been arrested Saturday in connection with her disappearance.
Police say they searched Darion Vence’s apartment and found blood inside that linked him to missing 4-year-old Maleah. Authorities say Vence initially told police that he, the girl, and his son were kidnapped before he and his son were released—but his story didn’t add up.
Maleah’s mother Brittany accuses Vence of harming her daughter. Child Protective Services removed Maleah and her brothers from Vence and Bowens’ home but returned them in February.
