Officers say the two-car crash happened around 7:05 p.m., on Highway 65 near Division in Springfield.

Police say a black Dodge Durango operated by Mikaila Koch, 17, of Bolivar, was northbound on US 65 when it struck the rear of a white 2016 Chevy Cruze operated by Clorissa Tilden, 37, of Reeds Springs.

The Chevy Cruze went off the roadway and struck a guardrail, killing an 11-year old female passenger. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Tilden and a 16-year-old passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is on-going. Next of kin have been notified and impairment was not believed to be a factor in this crash.

The Springfield Police Department expresses its condolences to the family.

This marks the fourth fatality crash in Springfield in 2019.
