Two Monett Officers Injured After Crash With Suspect’s Truck

Two officers in Monett have minor injuries after a suspect crashed into their patrol car when he was fleeing from police.

Police say it started around 11:00 p.m. Monday night, when officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Euclid.

An off-duty officer had located suspects from vehicle break-ins and called 911.

Before uniformed officers arrived, the suspect, Jeremiah McGuire, who is a 21-year-old from Monett, sped up a red pickup truck toward the off-duty officer.

That officer fired his weapon one time, hitting the truck but not the driver.

The vehicle sped off to encounter a marked Monett police patrol car in the 300 block of North Lincoln. Two officers in the vehicle recognized pickup and stopped in the roadway with emergency lights and siren on.

The suspect vehicle rammed the patrol vehicle, injuring both officers. One officer fired his weapon, hitting the truck, but not the suspect.

Police say the crashed disabled both police and suspect vehicles. The officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.

After the suspect was cleared by medical staff, he was taken to the Monett Justice Center Jail where he is currently being held.

The officers were treated and released for minor injuries from the crash.

The two Monett Police Officers are placed on administrative leave following the incident allowing for a full investigation.
