Veterans Day Events Going On In Southwest Missouri

Monday is Veterans Day and many places are celebrating the holiday that honors our Veterans from school districts to grocery stores.

Roy Blunt is expected to speak in Camdenton and Hartville. Blunt will be at Camdenton High School at 8:45 a.m. and then will speak at the Wright County Courthouse Lawn at 11 a.m.

The Republic School District is holding assemblies at Sweeny Elementary at 10 a.m., and Republic High School at 10 a.m., with a feature guest speaker Army Sergeant George Fuller, who is a liaison for wounded soldiers who return to the United States and is the founder of the Ruck-N-Run that’s held in Republic. The Republic Middle School is also holding an assembly at 9:15 a.m.

The John Thomas School of Discovery, part of the Nixa School District is holding a school-wide assembly where the third grade will perform songs thanking veterans and other patriotic music. The public is invited to that performance which begins at 9 a.m.

There will be a Veterans Day Parade in Branson that Governor Mike Parson is expected to attend. That begins at 11 a.m.

Casinos in Missouri are treating veterans and active military to free meals on Veterans Day. Those casinos honoring the military this Veterans Day, include Lumiere Place Casino & Hotels in Downtown St. Louis, Hollywood Casino St. Louis, Isle of Capri Casino Kansas City, Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles, Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Boonville, River City Casino & Hotel in Lemay, Lady Luck Casino Caruthersville, Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, St. Jo Frontier Casino, Harrah’s North Kansas City, Ameristar Casino St. Charles and Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa in Riverside. Guests will need to present a military ID or VA card.

HuHot is offering free meals to any veterans that purchases a drink on Veterans Day, limited to one entree per person.

Gordmans is donating 5% of its sales on Veterans Day up to $50,000 to Pets for Patriots, a nonprofit that helps veterans adopt overlooked dogs and cats.

Hy-Vee is offering free breakfast for veterans and active-duty military members. In addition, they’ll also receive a 10% discount of their grocery total when they shop at Hy-Vee on Monday.

Any veteran at Bricktown Brewery on Monday will get $10 off their guest check. Additionally, they will receive a commemorative “Thank You For Your Service” glass and a $10 off bounceback which may be used on upcoming visit.
