Murder Hornets Overhyped, MU Professor Says

A professor at the University of Missouri says despite internet hype, the so called Murder Hornets are not especially deadly to humans alone, and the people who have died from them received upwards of 30 stings.

Professor Dave Trinklein says he it can be damaging to the ecosystem to indiscriminately kill hornets.

“Other than when they build a nest near your home or so forth, we ought to let them alone because they are doing gardeners a favor as they prey on harmful insects and so forth,” he told Missourinet.

The invasive species from Asia are known to cause massive damage to European honeybee populations however, with 13 to 15 hornets able to kill tens of thousands of honeybees in hours.
