Winner Selected In Springfield Mayor’s “Wear A Mask” Contest

The winner of Springfield’s ‘Wear a Mask’ contest has been selected.

It’s a video featuring a jingle written by Springfield native Nick Sibley titled, “If You Don’t A Mask, It Will Put You In A Casket”, which received over half of the total votes.

Sibley’s tune beat out four other finalists, and you can view all of them with this link here.

“Each one of us keeps the other safe — every person has a responsibility here, social responsibility. And that’s what wearing a mask is all about,” said Mayor Ken McClure. “The right thing to do is to wear a mask because it’s not about you, it’s about my health and the health of our essential workers. You wear a mask to protect me, I wear a mask to protect you.”

The City of Springfield says each video promotes the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s recommended measure of wearing a mask in public.

Sibley’s winning video will be used as a public service announcement submitted to air on Springfield television stations and shared on the City’s social media sites and other communication channels.
