Springfield Police have identified the man who died from injuries after a crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. on August 29 on the 4300 block of West Chestnut Expressway.
Police say 56-year-old Gail Marriott was ejected from the motorcycle and died from injuries at 3:52 a.m. on August 31.
Investigators says the original investigation indicated the motorcycle was westbound on Chestnut Expy and appeared to be in the outside lane. The other car was westbound in the outside lane when the motorcycle braked in front of it. The car appeared to attempt to avoid the motorcycle but was unsuccessful.
The driver of the car remained at the scene.
This is the 13th fatality motor vehicle crash and the 15th crash-related death of 2020 for Springfield.
