City of Republic Builds Brand New Animal Control Center

The City of Republic has opened a new animal control center in Republic, saving the public an estimate $15,000 a year.

For years, the Republic Animal Control Center was unable to house many animals, which meant those they could not house went to Joplin. This cost around $55 per animal.

The new city shelter is much larger and has a fenced in area for dogs, veterinary care services, and an adoption center.

Volunteers say the shelter is not a kill shelter, and that they aim to re-home or adopt pets.

Republic processes around 500 lost and found animals every year.
