Body Cameras For Springfield Police Possible By Next Year

Body cameras on Springfield Police officers are slowly becoming a reality.

Chief Paul Williams says the department is planning on buying close to 240 cameras for $612,000 to be in use by next year.

That money will come out of what’s known as the city’s public works quarter-cent sales tax revenue also known as the “pothole fund”.

Body Cameras can also cost an extra $150,000 to maintain each year.
