Greene County health officials say there is a surge of new COVID-19 cases.
Over 140 new cases have been reported.
Spokesman Aaron Schekorra says the numbers are going up because not enough people are getting vaccinated.
“Younger people, particularly in that 20 to 30 age range, have a significantly lower vaccination rate. And so that just kinda tells me it’s just not a priority for some people.”
62% of Greene County isn’t vaccinated.
Schekorra says it’s up to the community to decide if this will be the first of many surges.
