Man Arrested In Taney County Missing Persons Case

A man has been arrested in Arkansas in the disappearance of a man in Taney County.

The Taney County Sheriff says Eric Williamson was reported missing the week of June 15.

Authorities learned he got into an argument with another man, and that man shot him.

The suspect was arrested in Arkansas.

On Thursday, Williamson’s vehicle was found burned in rural Boone County, Arkansas.

Authorities believe his remains were inside the vehicle.

Charges have been submitted to the Taney County Prosecutor’s Office.

During the week of June 15, Eric Williamson was reported missing in the Branson-Hollister area.

The Taney County Sheriffs Office along with the Missouri Highway Patrol, Hollister Police, Branson Police, Springfield Police and Boone County Sheriffs Office worked in conjunction to investigate this report.

During the course of the investigation into Williamson’s disappearance, information was developed that indicated Eric Williamson and another male subject had been involved in a verbal altercation at a residence on Concord Ave. in Branson and that during the altercation Williamson had been shot by the other male.

The male involved in the altercation was identified and later arrested on June 30, 2021 in Arkansas on other outstanding warrants.

Detectives from Taney County Sheriffs Office responded to Arkansas to interview this person and were able to collect evidence as well.

Following the interview, on July 1, 2021, Williamson’s vehicle was found burned with what is believed to be the remains of Williamson inside in a remote part of Boone County Arkansas.

This is still an ongoing investigation.

A Probable Cause Statement for charges on the male arrested in Arkansas have been submitted to the Taney County Prosecutors office for review and the filing of formal charges are pending.
