Construction projects paid for with the 2019 Springfield school bond issue are on track and on budget.

Executive Director of Operations Travis Shaw says the district has been able to make the most of the $167-million dollars in bond money.

Shaw tells KY3 that in some cases crews have been able to start work ahead of schedule.

That includes completing a second phase at Hillcrest and moving up construction on York Elementary.

Work is expected to start soon on two storm shelters at Field and Mark Twain elementary schools.

Shaw says work should wrap up by the end of next year.

The district is working on another bond proposal for 2023.
