Church Donates Food To Local Food Banks

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated 100,000 pounds of food to local food banks in the Ozarks.

Press Release

We are daily bombarded by news of Covid-19, economic challenges, of man-made disasters, or those meted out by Mother Nature, floods, fires, and earthquakes.

On a local level, many in the Ozarks area, remain food insecure.

Families still face daily struggles to place nutritious food on the table.

The humanitarian mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is to provide aid where it is needed, not just when a crisis occurs.

The Church has again dispatched food to the area by the truckload.

This food aid was gifted locally to food banks on Wednesday and Thursday.

It took the form of frozen pork, ground beef, and butter in addition to the regular provision of a variety of long-life shelf-stable goods.

The leaders of Crosslines in Springfield, Least of These in Ozark, and Share ‘n Care in Harrison, Arkansas, expressed their delight and thanks for their share of more than 100,000 pounds of donated food.

Kristy Carter of Least of these said, “It is wonderful that people and even faraway organizations can work together to help those in need of food security.”

Thankfully, many Christian organizations, companies, and individuals are indeed able and willing to share their abundance.

Food pantries, like those mentioned above, are staffed for the most part by volunteers from all walks of life.

When asked why they give so freely of their time, many will say it’s to give back or just simply say to help and give comfort to those in need.
