Hearings Set For February In Cassidy Rainwater Murder Case

It will be next year before a Dallas County judge decides if there’s enough evidence to put two men on trial for murder and kidnapping in the death of Cassidy Rainwater.

James Phelps and Timothy Norton have separate preliminary hearings scheduled for February.

Norton told investigators that he held the woman’s legs while Phelps put a bag over her head and strangled her.

Norton’s lawyer has withdrawn from the case.

A new defense attorney has been appointed to represent him.

At a hearing last month, the Dallas County prosecutor said Norton admitted that he and Phelps would troll the internet and a nearby Walmart for victims.

But the men have not been charged with any other crimes.
