Springfield has a new flag.
City Council approved the new design with a vote of 7-2 during its meeting Monday.
The new flag has been around since 2017, created by a group and had been considered an informal flag until Monday night.
Mayor Ken McClure says the flag will start flying on March 1 and has requested a ceremony to retire the city’s current flag.
