Judge Says Missouri AG Must Resubmit Lawsuit Against SPS Over Critical Race Theory

Greene County Circuit Judge Mark Powell has given the Missouri Attorney General 20 days to resubmit his lawsuit against the Springfield Public School District.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed a lawsuit against Springfield Public Schools after requesting information from the district regarding its own records on Critical Race Theory.

KY3 News reports that original lawsuit alleged that “Springfield Public Schools violated the law by demanding a deposit for items or services other than copies as a precondition to making public records available to the Attorney General’s Office.”

Springfield Public Schools said in a previous statement that the scope of the search requested by the Attorney General was extraordinarily large and had the potential to divert hundreds or even thousands of hours of district staff time from ordinary school operations.
