Zookeepers at Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield are treating three bald eagles suffering from lead poisoning.
One eagle was recently found almost drowning in the Finley River.
A vet says the eagles probably got sick feeding on animals that were shot with lead bullets.
KY3 says the zoo is launching a campaign called “get the lead out”, urging hunters to use non-toxic copper bullets.
This is a result of lead poisoning. This 🦅 is being treated but still very sick. Easy prevention: stop using lead ammo or lures. #gettheleadout #loveDPZ #savingspecies pic.twitter.com/VLkFpFyO3I
