(KTTS News) — The Lawrence County Emergency Services Board has approved a $5.9 million dollar contract to build a new county 911 building south of I-44.

DeWitt & Associates was the low bidder for the project.

The building will be built in an area that will be used for the construction of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and the Lawrence County Heath Department.

The 911 building will be 8,250 square feet.

It will be FEMA rated and will provide room for 911, administrative offices, training, quiet rooms, locker room facilities, and a kitchen.

Work should begin in August and be finished by the fourth quarter of 2023.

The City of Monett currently has a contract to handle county 911 calls.

That contract expires in October 2023.

Once the new building is finished, all county 911 services will be under one roof.
