(KTTS News) — Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against James Phelps for the kidnapping and murder of Cassidy Rainwater in Dallas County.
Phelps and Timothy Norton are charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and abandoning a corpse after authorities found human remains in the summer of 2021.
DNA tests confirmed that flesh found in a freezer belonged to Rainwater.
The rest of Rainwater’s remains were found on nearby property belonging to her grandfather.
Norton has a criminal setting scheduled for April 26.
