(KTTS News) — A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for areas along and south of I-44, including the Springfield and Branson areas.

It goes into effect Tuesday afternoon and runs into Wednesday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect during the same time for counties north of I-44.

A major winter storm is expected to bring snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches, with up to 12 inches in some places.

Areas north of I-44 will see 2 to 5 inches of snow.

The heaviest snowfall amounts will be along and south of the I-44 corridor.

Roads will become slick.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will have crews out Tuesday night to work on the major roadways.
