(KTTS News) — Several thousand people remained without power Wednesday night.

Utility crews made good progress restoring power during the day after heavy snow stopped falling.

By 9 p.m. Wednesday, about 4,100 customers in Howell County were still in the dark.

About 1,100 customers in Texas County were without power.

About 150 customers were still offline in Greene County.

Up to a foot of snow was reported southeast of Springfield Wednesday, mainly in Howell County around West Plains.

Utility crews are still busy trying to restore power from the latest round of snow.

Most of the outages are southeast of Springfield.

More than 6,600 customers are offline in Howell County and 4,200 in Texas County.

Up to a foot of snow was reported earlier this morning in Howell County and the West Plains area.

Springfield got 5.7 inches at the airport. 

At noon Friday, there were about 1,800 customers without power in Greene County.

About 4.5 inches was reported northeast of Springfield.

The snow caused thousands of power outages in Missouri and Arkansas, especially along the state line.

By mid-morning, about 1,500 customers were without power in Greene County.
