(KTTS News) – The family of a woman killed in an officer-involved shooting has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and the Nixa and Ozark police departments.
23-year-old Donna Bailey was killed along with 37-year-old Timothy Shafer in a confrontation last September after an attempted traffic stop led to a chase.
Officials said Shafer tried to run over a deputy during the chase and leaned out of a window with a gun.
Bailey’s family said she was trapped in the couple’s overturned car.
The Christian County prosecutor later ruled that the officers were justified in the shooting.
