(KTTS News) — Severe storms with damaging winds prompted a couple of tornado warnings Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for parts of Maries and Phelps counties.

A 97 mph wind gust was reported at the Rolla-Vichy airport.

Storm reports from the Vichy area included a mobile home that was damaged after it was knocked off its foundation, a barn that lost its roof, trees knocked down, and multiple power poles down.

Two other tornado warnings were issued for parts of Ozark, Douglas, Howell, and Texas counties.

As predicted, the main threat from Saturday’s storms was large hail.

There were numerous reports of large hail from golf ball, to tennis ball, to even baseball-size.

Original Story

There’s a slight update to the chance for severe storms across the Ozarks on Saturday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for the entire KTTS listening area.

The National Weather Service says the best chance for storms will be along and east of the I-49 corridor.

Hail up to the size of baseballs and wind gusts up to 70 mph are the main threats.

A few tornadoes can’t be ruled out.

The best chance for storms will start around 2 p.m. in the Joplin area, 4 p.m. in the Springfield area, and 6 p.m. in the Lebanon and Rolla areas.
