(KTTS News) — The investigation into the grisly kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Cassidy Rainwater in Dallas County is now over.

58-year-old Timothy Norton from Lebanon was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without parole.

He spoke to KY3 News after he was sentenced.

“I believe I should die,” Norton says. “And I’m ready for that.”

Norton says he knows what he did was wrong.

But he says he’s not a monster.

Prosecutors say the men believed Rainwater stole from them, and they wanted the items back.

Norton says 61-year-old James Phelps strangled Rainwater.

“The next thing I know, he was choking (Rainwater) and things were goin’ sideways. And if you’d looked into his eyes, that’d been the last thing you’d ever wanted to do was cross him at that point in time.”

Phelps entered an Alford plea earlier this year in Rainwater’s death.

He was also sentenced to life without parole.
