(KTTS News) – Firefighters with the Springfield Fire Department will visit with more than 60 schools during Fire Prevention Month.
Throughout the month of October, firefighters will visit area pre-K and elementary classrooms to provide fire safety education.
New this year, the department is working with schools to send students home with letters and educational materials in six languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese and Ukrainian. In addition to Fire Prevention Month, the Springfield Fire Department are also offering free smoke alarms and batteries to anyone in need.
