(KTTS News) -In honor of local veterans and their families, the City of Nixa is giving away 1,000 yard flags.
The new program, called “Community Stars & Stripes” encourages people in Nixa to “Flag your yard, thank our veterans.”
Residents inside Nixa city limits may visit The X Center, now through November 8th to collect up to 2 American yard flags per address.
The city is encouraging citizens to decorate their yards patriotically following Halloween through Veterans Day on November 11th.
The City of Nixa will also be hosting several Veterans Day events throughout November.
On November 4th, a Veteran’s Day Ceremony with Nixa American Legion Post 434 will be held at The X Center. This event will start at 9 a.m.
There will also be a Nixa Hero Run 5K on November 11th at The X Center.
The event includes a 5k race, a Fun Run, and a free kid’s zone.
The funds raised will go to benefit local children of active and retired military.
The 5k will start at 9 a.m.
