(KTTS News) — This is Giving Tuesday in the Ozarks and around the world.
Local charities sometimes receive the promise of matching donations to help raise money.
Giving Tuesday began as #GivingTuesday in 2012.
Fox News reports that people in the U.S. gave more than $3.1 billion dollars to local charities last year, up 15% from the year before.
Some 80 countries around the world take part in the event.
