(KTTS News) — The parents of a 16-year-old girl from the St. Louis area have filed a wrongful death lawsuit after their daughter was run over by their rental boat near Breezy Point on Table Rock Lake.
The girl’s father was trying to move the boat when it hit a wake and the driver’s seat broke, causing him to hit the throttle.
Their daughter died after she was hit by the propeller.
The lawsuit against Big Cedar Lodge says the boat had a defective driver’s seat and did not have a throttle interlock – a safety feature that keeps the boat from accidentally going from neutral into forward or reverse.
The lawsuit also names White River Marine Group, Mercury Marine, Forestar Industries and TMBC Leasing as defendants.
