(Springfield’s News Talk 104.1) – The vote for Willard Mayor ended in a tie on Tuesday.

Both alderman Troy Smith and former mayor Samuel Snider each received 349 votes.

Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller says that a public hand recount will be held this Friday at 9 AM at the Elections Center in Springfield.

The public is invited to attend and observe the hand recount by a bi-partisan hand counting team.

Schoeller stated that “If the recount confirms a tie and the contest is certified as a tie, then the candidates can either by state statute choose to flip a coin to determine the winner or one or both can request a runoff election.”
