(Springfield’s News Talk 104.1) – The Springfield Police Department is offering free steering wheel locks for Kia and Hyundai owners.
Police say there’s been a trend of vandalism and attempted thefts of vehicles in Springfield. Many of these incidents involve Kia and Hyundai model vehicles.
You can pick up a free steering wheel lock at the SPD headquarters at 321 E. Chestnut Expwy. during business hours from 7 AM to 5 PM.
You must be a Springfield area resident and present proof of ownership.

The automaker said it has already installed its software upgrade in nearly one million vehicles so far, and released a new hardware modification in December — an ignition cylinder protector — for vehicles that are not eligible for the anti-theft software upgrade.
