A native of Lebanon, MO, will be the mission commander for the SpaceX Crew Dragon, launching into space Sunday evening.
Mike Hopkins will serve as a flight engineer aboard the International Space Station. He grew up near Richland and graduated from School of the Osage.
The mission is a partnership between Elon Musk’s SpaceX and NASA. The launch is scheduled for 6:27 p.m. at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
