In federal court in Springfield Wednesday, a man from Colorado pleaded guilty to a long line of felonies - admitting he picked up a young girl from Springfield for sex.
Dominic Keith Pearson, 26, of Silverthorne, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge David P. Rush to one count of the coercion and enticement of a minor, one count of the sexual exploitation of a child, one count of attempting to transport a minor across state lines with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and one count of traveling across state lines to engage in illicit sexual activity.
On Jan. 8, 2017, the Springfield, Mo., Police Department received a report that a 13-year-female (identified as “Jane Doe”) was missing. Investigators examined the reporting parties’ cell phones, which were used by Jane Doe, and located messages sent between Jane Doe and Pearson a few days earlier. Among the messages were comments made by Jane Doe about marrying Pearson, and comments made by Pearson about sexual activity with Jane Doe.
On Jan. 10, 2017, Pearson and Jane Doe were located by Oak Grove, Mo., police officers in a truckers’ lounge at Petro Truck Stop located off Interstate 70. Pearson admitted that he picked Jane Doe up in Springfield, and that he had traveled through Nebraska, Iowa and Texas before reaching Missouri. Pearson had told Jane Doe he would take her to Colorado. Pearson admitted that he had sexual contact with Jane Doe. Pearson had also produced images of child pornography, which law enforcement located on Pearson’s cellular phone.
