A man who dragged a Springfield police officer 150 yards on a gas station parking lot last year has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
The Springfield News-Leader reports Clinton Laws had to give up law enforcement. His injuries left him in the burn unit for 11 days and using a walker for two months.
Jeffrey Lyon was living in his truck. He claimed he didn’t know it was an officer who approached his pickup while he was sleeping.
Laws became trapped in the wheel well as they struggled and fired two shots, missing Lyon.
